Child Protection Program

Program Overview

A child may face circumstances that threaten their safety and development, such as violence, neglect, or exploitation. They may also face family, educational, or legal problems that affect their present and future.

Caritas works to provide a safer and more stable environment for children at risk, from birth to 18 years of age, while also supporting their families through an integrated professional approach that places the best interests of the child as its top priority.

Caritas provides services in several governorates, including Cairo, Alexandria, Qalyubia, Giza, Assiut, and Minya, in addition to receiving reports from all governorates through the Child Helpline 16000. This aims to reach children at the right time and provide the protection they need.

Program Projects

Caritas provides these services through its projects: Protection and Rehabilitation of Children at Risk in Alexandria, Protection of Children at Risk in Giza, and Caritas Nurseries, in addition to services provided through the Child Helpline.

Protection of Children at Risk

Children may face different forms of risk, and their causes and effects may overlap. Therefore, protection is not limited to responding to the problem. It also includes understanding the child’s and family’s circumstances, identifying their needs, reducing risk factors, and strengthening the safe environment around the child.

Through the Child Protection Program, Caritas provides specialized professional interventions for children and their families, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to achieve the best interests of the child and their family.

Support Child Protection

Child protection is a shared responsibility. It starts with responding at the right time and continues by providing the necessary support and care for children and their families.

You can be part of these efforts and help provide new opportunities for children at risk to live safer and more stable lives.
